Hello, I am Lisa Piotrowski, female, 27 years old, currently working as Data Engineer at DeepL.
I chose computer science because I was (and still am) quite fascinated by video games and animated films. I always wondered, “How can someone possibly create these compelling stories and beautiful scenes with this mysterious machine called computer?” Turns out the answer is math, engineering and an eye for details.
During my studies, I further discovered the beauty and ingenuity of the mathematics that seems so foreign and abstract but is able to describe what looks real and astonishing. If you ever read a computer graphics paper, you probably know what I mean. My ambition is to add my own contributions to this world. Because of this I already worked as an undergraduate research assistant.
I also enjoy to help others experience the same joy for computer science. As tutor, I was responsible for helping other undergraduates with their software projects. In the future, I also plan to use this website for write-ups of how I dealt with hard-to-track down bugs or workarounds so others can profit from it too.
